During our Christmas vacation in the US I finally bought a book that has been on my Amazon wishlist for months. Domino - The Book of Decorating by Deborah Needleman. Though we have been working on our apartment for half a year now, some rooms never seem to get finished. At first sight they even might give the impression of a design construction site. I hoped the book would provide me with some inspiration. How I had underestimated it! Not only is it full of good ideas but it also gives you a step-by-step instruction to a home in your own style. First you collect pictures you like. Ha, easy, Pinterest caught me a long time ago and one of my first boards is called "Zuhause" which means "at home" in German. I analysed the pictures on the board to find out what makes me love the shown interiors. The results: I like rooms that are cozy, full of light and warm colors. And as I love some dramatic color accents the basics must be held in neutral colors. And then Nate and I possess tons of books and big pieces of art we love to display. In all that orderliness is key - at least visually. Next time I will go on writing about how I assessed our stuff. Meanwhile I would love to know: What does your interior style look like?
