The last room I want to write about in this column is the living room. In German we have the term of "the nice room" because it used to be decorated nicely to impress Sunday guests without the family actually using it during the week. In our case it is not the nice room but the one to hang out in, to drink cocktails, have friends over, watch TV shows or simply cuddle up. This multifunctional room is harder to decorate than I thought. The cultural presettings are pretty clear after all: at least one couch, a coffee table and a TV. But How can I add some personality of this standardized room? I went through about 2000 pics for answers. Here are the ones I would like to realize.

I love pictures! Be it painting, print or photography. And I love more art than we have walls. So the idea to layered art comes in pretty handy. This way you can combine big and small pictures. We would like to add a floor lamp to highlight an artsy room like that. But where could we possibly get such a fantastic piece?

The coffee table is going to be a challenge. We have a new credenza, a huge one from the 20s that is now our bar (I will post pictures soon). This beautiful piece now dominates our living room with all of its glory. Our coffee table's color doesn't fit anymore, aside from the many scratches the lovely piece got from Nate using it as DIY table for a project (that turned out to be a most wonderful Christmas present for me, by the way). A lucite table might be nice for its invisibility. And that glass table with thrift wood legs? Very nice as well.

finally I'm dreaming of fluffy pillows to cuddle with and another large plant. That is how slaphappy I got from NOT killing our second palm tree (you guess what happend to number one, don't you). As soon as we finish the living room I will start posting pictures of our home. Because I already changed a lot of stuff in the kitchen and in the bedroom. Stay tuned.
Hey, wie wäre es aus einem Wohnzimmertisch aus Treibholz? Da hat jeder seine eigene Geschichte zu erzählen... hab ich hier gefunden:
