An Office with a View

Fast fünf Jahre lang war dieses Wohnhaus das erste, was ich sah, wenn ich aus meinem Bürofenster blickte. Es ist hässlich und ich hatte stets Mitleid mit den Bewohnern, deren Balkone in meine Richtung zeigten. Denn das bedeutete, dass ihr Blick immer auf das Gebäude der Bundesagentur für Arbeit gerichtet war. Ein selten hässliches Ungetüm aus den 70ern. In der Mittagspause machten wir gerne Scherze darüber, dass es eigentlich ein verirrtes Raumschiff sein müsste. Mit der Zeit entdeckte ich, dass das Wohnhaus vor meinem Fenster gar nicht so langweilig war. Es sah jeden Tag anders aus. Ich nahm also unsere kleine Canon Digitalkamera mit in die Arbeit und zog sie über einen Zeitraum von etwa zwei Jahren immer aus der Schublade, wenn das Gebäude mal wieder eine schöne Leinwand für das Wetter abgab. Letztens habe ich die Aufnahmen wieder gefunden. Das Haus hatte ich fast vergessen.

Almost five years long this building was the first thing when I looked out of my office window. It's quite ugly and I always felt sorry for the residents whose balconies faced my office. Because that meant that the German Federal Agency for Employment was the first thing they saw when they looked out the window. Which is an ugly monster of a building from the 70s. During lunch break we used to make fun of it, saying it must be a spaceship that somehow lost its way. With time I realized that the apartment building in front of my window wasn't that boring after all. It looked different every day. I took our little Canon digital camera to work and started taking pictures of the building over a course of about two years. It is such a great canvas for the weather. Recently I found the pictures. I had almost forgotten about this project.
