Today it's all about our music room. But as I do not suppose a lot of people have one I will not leave unmentioned that it is also our guest room. That is where you can tie in.

As people are always more important than things I will start with the guest room side of our music room. Friends and family mostly visit us as couples or in droves. So we definitely need a big sofa bed. If you only have one guest at a time in your room in a shared apartment a chair bed is sufficient. Your guest can enjoy that during day time, too. Of course you can skip that extra piece of furniture alltogether and hide an extra mattress under your bed. We have that in addition to the sofa bed (remember the droves?). Of course it is extra nice if you have the possibility to free some storage space for your guests if they stay more than a night. Place a little reading lamp and a fresh towel next to their bed and they will feel totally at home. From my last roomies I learned to place some sweets on the pillow. No one has complained about it yet.

Was passt zu eurem Hobby?
Now to the rec room. It should not be just functional. Make it as comfortable as any other room so you like being there. That is why we did not just put up sound protection on our walls in the music room but also covered them with red velvet curtains. After adding a classic chandelier it looks a bit like at the opera. So the room is not just okay for playing the sax but also radiates music on its own. There is only one picture up yet (a collage of Nate's Jazz albums) so we are still looking for more art here. It has to have to do with music, of course. Do you have a sewing room, a fitness room, a dart room or even a library? To turn a hobby room into a cozy place most times all it takes is new paint on the wall, a rug or some art. What fits your hobby?
